A Time to Celebrate
It’s the time of year to buy new, bright suits and pastel dresses. It’s time for the flowers to bloom and the sun to shine brightly. No matter how dreary the winter may have been, the landscape is coming alive with the sight of bold colors and joyous sounds of children playing outdoors. Easter is such a special time of the year, and to help make this season even more enjoyable, Pine Hills Lodge is having an old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 15th, meet at the Sport Courts at 10 am - noon for parents and children alike. We ask that all children decorate an Easter egg basket before arriving to search for eggs hidden around the community. Each egg will contain a surprise, and we’ll also award a prize to the child with the best-decorated basket. Parents, we want you to come out for this fun family celebration too. We’ll see you there!
Saint Patrick’s Day
Pine Hills Lodge, commemorates the patron saint of Ireland. Born in England, Bishop Patrick left his home to Christianize the people of Ireland. Legend records that Saint Patrick rid the isle of all snakes. March 17th is a national holiday in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Looking for Luck on St. Patrick’s Day
Pine Hills Lodge realizes that there are many activities going on in Las Vegas for St. Patrick’s Day. We hope that no matter how you celebrate on this day, you will be responsible and use good judgment where alcohol is concerned. Please don’t drink and drive, and don’t let your friends drive under the influence. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Guessing Game Contest Winner
Congratulation’s Al Wyatt & Yadira Aguilar hope you enjoyed your dinner and a movie! They guessed the closest to 1,036 Hot Tamales. They both guessed 1,050.
Have You Seen the Light
You soon will because Daylight-Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 9th. Welcome in the long days of summer by remembering to turn your clocks ahead one hour at 2 am. If you can’t recall how to set your clock, Pine Hills Lodge reminds you to use the popular saying, “spring ahead, fall back.”
Hurry!
Skate in, run in or dance in, but make sure you arrive with your rent check before the 1st of the month. Pine Hills Lodge will collect all of our Early Bird’s names and enter them all into a drawing for $75.00 off next month’s rent. You’ll be glad you hurried in. Congratulations to Ronda Logan, February’s Early Bird winner!
Check the Detector
Smoke detectors significantly improve your chances of escaping a fire, but only if they are working properly. Experts recommend changing the batteries in your smoke detector when you change your clock for Daylight-Saving Time. So on March 9th, set your clock forward an hour and change those batteries. Be sure to test your smoke detectors each month as well.
We’ll Mind Your Business
Your business is important to us at Pine Hills Lodge. In fact, it is so important that we have equipped a business center for your convenience. When you have a weekend project or a pressing deadline and no time to go to the office, come down to our business center to work. You’ll find everything you need to get the job done, except for a stressful atmosphere.
Clear Ye, Clear Ye
The hallways and breezeways at Pine Hills Lodge must be kept clear of boxes, bikes furniture, trash and other items. Not only is a cluttered area unsightly, but it also prevents you and your neighbors from exiting the building quickly in case of an emergency. Thank you for cooperating with us in this extremely important matter.
A Winning Relay
Pine Hills Lodge has added another champion to our team. Rodolfo Osorio has accepted the baton and will run as our new Painter. We just know that our team will be even quicker and better than before and that we’ll win every race. You don’t have to stay in the stands; come on in and say hello to Rodolfo – that is , if you can catch our newest champ!
Recipe of the Month

6 oz. pkg. long grain and wild rice mix

Pour into 3 quart glass casserole dish and cover tightly. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, then remove from oven and stir well. Bake uncovered 30-40 minutes longer until rice is cooked and edges are bubbling, stirring once more halfway through baking time. 6 servings
Would You Know What To Do
…if a grease fire ignited on your stove? Many people toss water on the flames, inadvertently spreading the fire by scattering the grease. If a grease fire erupts, put on your oven mitt, place a lid on the pan and then turn off the heat. Leave the covered pan on the stove until it is completely cool. Don’t be tempted to raise the lid while the pan is still hot because you could introduce oxygen, causing another flare-up.
March Poem
Mountains Melting
Author: Don Rehling
Over here in Denver Where the Plains surrender
Fragile blooms of yellow and white Are stepping out, into sunlight
Playing odds that winter’s dead To volunteer a flower bed
Weeds and grass are in a rush To make it coarse or make it plush
Mother Earth’s mountain breast Melt and milk the magpie nest
The swelling banks once panned for metals Now have skiers that switched to pedals.
Over all the mountains sing Winter’s over – welcome Spring.
